8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013
Hostos Community College 500 Grand Concourse Bronx, NY 10451
You are invited on March 23 to join thousands of community gardeners and greening professionals from all over New York City for a day of learning, sharing, networking and greening inspiration at the 29th Annual GreenThumb GrowTogether! This year’s conference will feature favorite workshops from past years, as well as exciting new topics, including many hands on workshops for youth gardeners. GrowTogether 2013 will offer many workshops you may have missed out on in years’ past, like Bees & Beekeeping, Urban Chicken Keeping (Back to Basics), and Basics of Community Organizing. So, take this as a renewed opportunity to visit them! Some GrowTogether mainstays will be offering re-branded and new workshops too! Join Eric Thomann for A Garden for All – Building a Community Garden that is Accessible to All People; Maureen O’Brien of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden will be offering a workshop on Growing Powerful Foods; and you might not want to miss Just Food’s Taireina Gilbert’s Putting up in Style: Canning Basics. Bring your family, friends and colleagues! Together, we will learn:
- How to support and become involved in your local community garden
- Lessons learned/tips/best practices from gardeners/farmers/other professionals with real life experiences
- How to develop interpersonal skills and how to promote community networking.
Please be sure to share this opportunity with the rest of your garden group and anyone else who might be interested! To register, please visit brownpapertickets.
