We spent much of yesterday, a beautiful day, emptying and refilling the turtle pond. We have a new pump and aerator and wanted to get rid of the layer of sediment and algae that was clogging the old equipment. As we pumped out the old water, Bob’s favorite turtle tirelessly tried to scale the slippery sides of the pond. We temporarily moved the fish to a small tank. At the bottom was muck, gravel, leaves, and one men’s cordovan shoe filled with mud.
