Debra and I found ourselves looking for citibikes today at a stand on Ave C and 9th St, an intersection framed by two large community gardens. They were both created in abandoned empty lots by dedicated residents of a poor neighborhood forgotten by the city. They were also defended by the same gardeners against later development and exist today, as does our garden, as green space testimonials to the perseverance and hard work of many people.
Take a walk and visit them. It was fun to compare our experience with other gardeners.
